Scottsdale Getaway

A getaway to Scottsdale may need to be a new December tradition. It was so beautiful, relaxing, and warmer than snowy Salt Lake. We got to go to a medical conference- just me and Mitch- thanks to my mom and sisters watching our kids. Our first stop was to lunch at Joyride Tacos- so yummy!

Relaxing is an understatement. We couldn't believe all that we could fit in and do in one day on our own. Mitch was usually in classes from 6-1 so I had the mornings all to myself which was amazing and so refreshing. It was so crazy to eat whenever I wanted, not stressed about feeding three (sweet, amazing that I love so much) kids three times a day! Or just to go to the bathroom or shower BY MYSELF. I spent three hours one day at Last Chance and bought great Christmas gifts that I ended up keeping for myself. Whoops! I found a swim suit for Mitch for 0.99 cents. And so many other fun finds. I've never enjoyed shopping that much because I'm always with my kids or worried about who is waiting for me. Definitely a game changer to be on my own.

The time we had together was so needed also! Chatting about our day without twenty interruptions was definitely appreciated. Remember- I love my kids and think the world of them and cry regularly about them growing up and leaving me. It's just nice to have a break every once in a while.

The resort we stayed at was so beautiful and had fun bikes you could check out, tennis courts, a workout room or workout classes, a spa, and so many other fun things to do.

The resort had 3 acres of pool! We felt bad our kids weren't there to enjoy it, but then again, we were glad to just sit in the hot tub.

One of my favorite things we did was hike Camelback Mountain. It was so different from hiking around us at home. It was hard and a great workout with a beautiful view on top.

On Saturday we finally had some sun and we took advantage at the pool.

The resort was decked out for the holidays which was so fun.

We had lots of yummy meals and good chats. One of our favorite restaurants, Grass Roots, was so tasty! Our appetizer was pork belly with cheddar jalapeƱo grits and candied peppers. For free. We had the most entertaining couple next to us- let's say the lady wasn't wearing much. But what little she was wearing was gold and very sparkly.

On our last night we went and explored downtown Scottsdale and it was so charming. The streets were lined with Christmas lights and it was packed. We rented some Bird scooters and rode around while being cheered on by some drunk people and then ate ice cream at a pink parlor from the 1950's.

Sunday morning after church we went to the botanical gardens which were so beautiful! The succulents were amazing. We couldn't believe how big some of the cactus were!

We went on a short hike to Hole in the Rock and then got ourselves to the airport and flew home. It was so fun to see our kids! They were so sweet and had made us a welcome home sign and gave us big hugs. They had so much fun with their cousins and Nana and Bomps. It was hard for me to adjust back to meeting their every need the moment they needed it. But they sure make it worth it. I love having one on one time with Mitch though. I keep getting blown away more and more each year that he is mine! He is incredible.

Till next time Scottsdale!
